Ey up I’m Gavin, let me tell you a bit about myself and how I found my way in to this role,

I’m 47 years old but I’m very young at heart I’m like Peter Pan I will never grow up, I’m recently married to the love of my life Troy, we have been together 3 years, we have 3 children my youngest is 15 and my oldest is 23, we also have two French bulldogs mother and daughter, they are the biggest babies in our home.

I come from a large family, anyone that knows me knows how important family and friends are to me, I enjoy spending time with my family and friends making memories.

I’m originally from Leeds but have called Hull my home since 2001, I moved to Hull when I returned to the uk after living in Spain for two years where I worked in a hotel as a barman and a animation team member, while I lived in Spain I studied the language and became fluent in Spanish both written and spoken.

Before I left the uk I was a print finisher for five years which was a good job but not what I wanted to do long term, while I was living in Spain I enjoyed working with children and young people while on the animation team, so when I returned to the uk I changed my career path and got in to youth work which I did for five years, I also went to Hull university to study youth and community, at the same time I also became a foster carer, I found Fostering very rewarding and adopted all three of my children from a young age age.

When I was made redundant from youth work I became a contact officer for the local authority I did this for five years, I then went on to become a child care officer for the local authority working in children’s residential homes, i found this job very rewarding, I did this role for nine years before coming to work at St Mary’s Chanterlands as an activity coordinator,

I’m thrilled to be part of the team at St. Mary’s Chanterlands as one of the Activity Coordinators, This role brings me immense job satisfaction – it’s all about creating fun and engaging activities for our lovely residents. Their smiles, stories, and enthusiasm light up my days, and I feel incredibly lucky to be able to contribute to their happiness and enrich their lives.

Working alongside Michelle is especially rewarding. With her wealth of experience, we proudly call ourselves the Dream Team. We’re always creating and planning different activities to keep our lovely residents entertained and engaged. We’re even doing a charity skydive to raise funds for our residents fund.

My motto is “Life is a beautiful adventure every day is a gift” and I’m grateful for every twist and turn that has brought me to where I am today.

Looking forward to connecting with you all and sharing more of life’s wonderful moments!.
