This week, St. Mary’s Chanterlands came together to celebrate a very special occasion—Dot’s 90th birthday. At our care home, we take pride in making birthdays and significant milestones truly memorable, and Dot’s big day was no different.

The celebrations began with a visit to our in-house salon, where Dot enjoyed some pampering from our skilled hairdresser, Naomi. After a bit of fuss and attention, she looked and felt wonderful, setting the tone for the rest of the day.

To make sure everything was perfect, Michelle and Gavin worked hard to prepare the winter garden for the festivities. They decorated the area with a large balloon arch, complete with “90” stickers, banners, and giant balloons to mark the occasion. A beautiful bouquet of roses and a handmade card signed by all the staff and residents were placed near the decorations, adding a personal touch to the setup.

Next, Michelle and Gavin visited a local bakery to choose a special birthday cake for Dot. They selected the finest cake, which was decorated with “Happy 90th Birthday Dot.” When Dot’s family arrived, they were welcomed into the winter garden, where Dot was pleasantly surprised by all the effort and decorations.

After the family settled in and exchanged cards, Michelle and Gavin brought in the cake and led everyone in singing “Happy Birthday” as Dot blew out the candles. It was a joyful moment, and Dot expressed her gratitude for the celebration.

At St. Mary’s Chanterlands, we are committed to making every day meaningful for our residents. If you are considering a home that offers residential, dementia, or nursing care, we invite you to visit and see for yourself what makes our approach to care unique.
