Hutton Manor Care Home was filled with joy and the sound of delighted cheers as therapy dog Arthur, accompanied by his owner Emma, made his much-anticipated return visit. This dynamic duo has quickly become a favourite at the care home, with residents eagerly awaiting each visit.
Arthur, known for his intuitive sense of direction, made a beeline for the first-floor residents as soon as he entered the building. With a confident strut into the lounge, he was immediately welcomed with screams of joy from the residents, who spoiled him with affection and treats. Arthur didn’t just stop there; he made his presence felt throughout the facility by visiting other floors, including both private rooms and communal areas, where he continued to enchant everyone with his friendly demeanor and fluffy hugs.
Emma spent time engaging with residents, sharing heartwarming stories from Arthur’s life which added a personal touch to the visit. Residents such as Jim, Olive, and Addy shared their thoughts on Arthur’s visit:
- Jim reflected, “He’s a big boy, not as big as the dog I used to have, but just as friendly.”
- Olive commented, “What a handsome chap he is.”
- Addy observed, “He’s so soft and he smells nice.”
“The visits from Emma and Arthur highlight the therapeutic benefits of pet interaction,” said Helen Fowler, Home Manager at Hutton Manor. “These sessions not only brighten the day for our residents but also significantly contribute to their emotional and social well-being.”
Hutton Manor is committed to providing enriching and comforting experiences to enhance the lives of its residents. The care home plans to continue facilitating these beloved visits, ensuring that Arthur and Emma remain a staple in the Hutton community.
