Client Feedback

My mum has had some respite care at Shipley Manor. She was apprehensive about going to the home. However, she soon got to know the other residents and felt completely at ease, in no time at all. She joined in the daily activities. Really enjoyed the food. She stated that all the staff were extremely attentive and caring.

When we visited, the staff were always courteous and extremely professional, from the manager to the care staff.

We have booked my mum in for some more respite when we go away in April.

I would not hesitate to recommend this care home to other families. It felt like a weight had been lifted off my shoulders knowing my mum was safe and secure, whilst we took our grandchildren on holiday.

Highly recommended.

My dad has been at St Mary’s Lodge for 4 months now. He has had a tough 4 years, previously staying at 3 different specialist care homes. Finally, after being able to move him into St Mary’s, the difference in just 2 weeks was just incredible. It was as though his lights had been switched on.

St Mary’s Lodge is the most beautifully decorated home, with the nicest of atmosphere, it is always immaculate, it doesn’t smell, and Dad always looks smart, with his clothes washed and looked after. Dad is on blended foods and they always make sure he gets the nutrition he needs.

The management and all the staff have gone above and beyond to cater for all of Dad’s needs, whether he is in the lounge or in his bedroom, Dad is always been watched.

We can’t thank everyone enough for finally making such a difference in our experience visiting Dad. So very happy Dad is finally somewhere he deserves to be.

After having mum stay in two homes previously, she could not settle, we found St Mary’s Riverside. She is so happy and contented now and comfortable and safe, it is a joy to see.

The staff are amazing and so genuinely caring, the management are so helpful, we cannot thank them all enough.

For the family the most important thing is mum calls St Mary’s Riverside “Home”.

I would like to send my kind regards, thanks, and appreciation to the management and staff at St Mary’s Riverside.

My mother was admitted to St Mary’s just over a year ago. The standard of care that she has received during this time has been excellent. The staff are always very kind, caring, and supportive, and treat the residents with respect and dignity.

My mother’s health and well-being have certainly improved from moving into St Mary’s after living alone in her own home.

She is always clean and well-dressed. She enjoys the food and looks physically well. I have found the atmosphere at St Mary’s inclusive, welcoming, and supportive to relatives, too, and we are included in the many activities, or invited to functions.

Many thanks to all.

My grandma came into the home several months ago. It was really tough for her to transition to being in the home but with the expert guidance of the managers and day staff that I spoke to so regularly, she started to refer to them as her friends.

She was welcomed by all the staff and wasn’t someone to be fooled, but she trusted them and made special bonds with many of the staff too. She received the much-needed hugs, kind words and practical support she needed with dignity, professionalism with personal delivery.

The home itself is so clean and comfortable and collective meal times with 3 courses and my grandma’s favourites often popping on the menus meant so much.

At such a difficult time, I personally could not recommend the home and staff highly enough. Knowing your favourite person is being looked after so well when you can’t be there all the time is priceless.

Thank you all.

Tess N (Granddaughter of Resident) - St Mary's Lodge

We brought Mum to this care home as a most vocal, unwilling guest in August this year. The managers were friendly and courteous to Mum and treated her with incredible insight, dignity and empathy. At no time was she allowed to feel vulnerable or alone. They respected her wishes and basically earned her approval.

They could not have done this without their amazing team of carers. They each played their own special role in making Mum feel loved and appreciated to the point that Mum was nearly/really?! loving them as much as us! Mum after only a week or so thought of the home as her home. When we took her out she sailed back in to be greeted by the staff as friends.

If you look at the other residents you can see how well they are treated and how happy they are. The staff made my mum’s last few months enjoyable and made this last chapter one we will always remember with affection and gratitude.

I cannot praise the staff enough. Thank you.
